Creative Groups
The Yellow House Project continues to offer in-person groups on a monthly basis. You can always find our most recent event postings on our Instagram page (give us a follow!). We hope to see you at our next gathering!
TYHP loves to get crafty! Our Prayer Flag Painting Event was a hit. With these prayer flags surrounding the entrance of the Yellow House, we hope it encourages feelings of harmony, serenity, and security when entering our space.
Our annual Vision Board Event is also a hit. ✂️💭🎨 TYHP members and staff join creative forces in this group to reflect on our aspirations for the future. Participants reflected on their heart’s desires and created beautiful vision boards to inspire hope for their recovery.

Baking and Cooking Groups
A large part of recovery is finding the joy in food, both through means of making it and eating it! We also learned the importance of allowing a cake to fully cool before frosting. 😂 Sometimes time constraints are very real! Regardless, this carrot cake came out delicious! A good reminder that “recovery is messy!”
Variety and exposure to an array of cuisines helps to reduce food rigidity our members may face. One of our Dietitians Kelsey Umansky helped us make delicious Mediterranean Chicken Bowls. In addition, one of our our dietetic interns Elizabeth led a BBQ Fun Friday Lunch! We broke in our grill and cooked up some deliciously smoky chicken pineapple kabobs.
Other Groups
Exposure to documentaries on body image, beauty standards, and weight bias can be very powerful in recovery, especially when we join together to discuss such topics. One of our groups consisted of watching The Illusionists, a highly acclaimed documentary about the globalization of unrealistic beauty standards in media and advertising.
In addition to movie watching events, we also host creative journaling groups to tap into our expressive side and understand ourselves more. These groups, lead by Marlena, help our members with understanding themselves and their inner child better than they did before, aiding in self-discovery.
Last but not least… BINGO! We also host fun game nights, such as our Bingo event to foster community, fundraise, and let loose!
Disclaimer:
The events held at The Yellow House Project are intended to support your eating disorder recovery. Our groups are for people that are in a relatively stable and aware place in their recovery process. They are not a substitute for higher level of care treatment. If you are actively engaging in ED behaviors, feel taken over by them, or are unable to identify the difference between you and ED, please speak to us about treatment referrals.
