I'm Emily Stingl, RD

Hello!  My name is Emily Stingl, RD.  I added the “RD” to my name in 2017 and have been working toward replacing that with “CEDRD” as I pursue the Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian credential.  Over the past two-plus years, I’ve been a part of many Recovery journeys at the Central Coast Treatment Center PHP and IOP program and I am so very grateful to now be joining the wonderful team of Marlena Tanner, RDN, CEDRD-S and the Yellow House Project!

To back up a bit, I was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  I’m still a Wisconsinite at heart, and, yes, that means I love cheese, crackers, and the Green Bay Packers!  I completed my bachelor’s degree in Dietetics from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point in 2016.  At this point in my life, I had two goals. One was to become an RD focused on treating those with eating disorders.  The second was to never again suffer through a brutal Wisconsin winter!

I reached that second goal when I got matched to a Dietetic Internship at (formerly) Florida Hospital Orlando.  There I completed over 1200 hours of supervised practice with a clinical emphasis and eventually, I became an RD.  I never lost sight of my goal to work with clients with eating disorders, but did take a short detour to build a foundation in clinical nutrition.  Along with almost 30 other dietitians, I counseled hospital patients, provided nutrition education, and monitored tube feedings.  My favorite units were Neurosurgical and the Neuro-ICU.  After a few years, I said goodbye to my Florida Hospital Family and moved across the country to the Central Coast where I finally began my work in the field of eating disorders.

Outside of work, I love to read, cook (no surprises there,) hike, and pet as many dogs as possible.  I’ve also found incredible peace and body acceptance through the practice of yoga.  Recently I began a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with a specialized emphasis on meditation, social-emotional learning, and trauma-informed instruction.  My goal is to combine my practices of yoga and eating disorder treatment to create one more avenue for healing for my clients.

Every day, I’m grateful to be doing work that I love.  I can’t wait to meet you and join you on your journey to Recovery!
